a very large and postponed update

Sorry for not blogging more i promised myself i would. But I am a week into the journey and i am now currently in Portland Oregon. From then to now many amazing things have happened. i went to Austin and went to a ton of wildlife reserves(big fan of nature), went to town lake a town in the middle of a river , and then went to one of the many historical markers within the town( mostly about the Alamo). After that i was headed for Cicada Juarez an old Mexican american town in the middle of a desert but on the way to Albuquerque lots of museums and very interesting town in general very poor but modern and shady in general i also went to a nightclub that was a 1920's margarita bar. i had a short visit there before i made it to Albuquerque which was neat it all the Hispanic architecture and how close the houses were to each other yet again i went biking in the Sandia mountains and visited the rio grande along with old town a town that hasn't been touched since 1706 and last but not least they have New mexico college within the city limits so i went to see a game. once i left Albuquerque i found my buddy Kyle Kennedy hitchhiking on the side of highway 40 on my way to phoenix he did the exact same thing as i did except he didn't have a car and from then on things got a whole lot better i finally had a companion because it is a little weird doing everything by yourself and splitting up driving is wonderful. From that point on we went to so many concerts jumped onto golf course and everything i didn't really want to do alone. we went to Phoenix and saw baseball game a ton of hikes and trails even a few symphonies. after that we went to Vegas and well what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas but it was a blast. after that it was los angeles the city of angles we did everything went to long beach Disneyland Santa Monica pier la brea tar pits and a ton of concerts that we could have never seen in  St Louis including: run the jewels mastadon fleet foxes Mac demarco queens of the stone age Mic Jenkins and many many more. after that comes our second to last stop in San Francisco a beautiful modern city tons of stuff to do many memorable eat out spots many historical spots and obviously golden gate bridge. after that i had to have a hard goodbye with my good bud Kyle this was ultimately a journey to find myself and to get a new life not to relive my old one. So i brutally murdered him under the wheel of my tire I didn't really plan to kill him but I thought it was a cool idea and I'm going to Canada so maybe i will get away with it i feel pretty bad about it considering he paid for everything.

our class walk was very different from the escapism described in the reading from Henry David. I was kinda into it until i saw the construction only 100 feet away and the many trucks that have been paving a trail. in a way it was the exact opposite of the reading. In the since it was the opposite of what he was about it was mans progress the way we call nature ugly we clear it out its gorgeous. Once I got over it and moved farther down It wasn't all bad we did see some ducks a stream a stream of crap people dumped some stone work parts of the old track and a very angry lady for being on her property. I mean she was in her pajamas at 230 on a Tuesday but that's none of my business. But for how cynical I am I did enjoy it and it really got my mind off school and was a cool idea the whole construction thing really bummed me out but once I got past it I guess I kinda did lose myself like Henry described.

in the beginning

First day well really it's the second day but the first was planning never mind it's a new adventure I have ditched everything I also miss everything but I will persevere and turns out learning mandarin is harder than I thought. But nevertheless I am committed. My first stop is Oklahoma city which takes 7 hours to get there. It was an unbelievably long car ride but now I am ready for anything. First I went to anything fun and anything free. I have a long way to go i can be wasting money I only have 2500 and there are 9500 miles to go but anyways. First stop I went to the science and art museums not as good as the ones back home but I still had a great time. Next it was gold dome I wish someone told me it was a bank the place was an amazing sight not much else. Lastly was the two things I was looking forward to the H and H shooting galaries it was great I had only shot a gun three times prior but nothing like this skeet shooting, mini guns a enormous shooting Gallery, and I saved the best for last and then went to an amusement park called frontier city that to was wonderful. Afterwords I got some sleep in my roomy Mazda protege( I miss my bed) and planned for my next day in Austin texas

Prep day

Prep day alright quit my everything job school sports team everything. But before I go I must take everything that could help me. I am gonna take a knife,headphones, my I pod,crossbow, arrows, coat,jeans, boots,granola bars my Wendy's gift cards(I have far too many), how to learn Chinese in the car cassette tapes, and 2500 dollars. Know I know a lot for having to travel over 10637 miles to Xian China as the crow fly's its 7469. But I'm not interested in taking planes I have a lot of things to do along the way I plan to to go south to OKC. Even farther south to Houston and Austin Texas then head west visit New Mexico Arizona then go up the coast stopping along the way all the way up to Canada and then to Alaska where I will find a way to cross to get over to st Laurence island fly to China travel through China take a detour in Japan and eventually get to Xian China which actually doesn't mean all that much to me it the journey that matters

JTierney 7th hour into the wild

I am tired of thinking about how i wil live the rest of my life. To figure out how to do the things i actually want to do. I would have to work get though college get a good job pay off student loans all this jazz. Then explore the world when I'm 80 thats a bunch of bs. So today will be the first day to my new life I'm gonna take everything I may need or that will be of use and figure out how on earth I'm gonna get to Xian Xian ,China. I have always been interested in the east I have read quite a bit about the history and culture it's very different and that's what I'm looking for to truly escape. It could also take me to some very interesting places on the way.
